By day Wallace Waiguru can be found at the events production company MoSound where he works as the Creative Director. But in the evenings and on weekends he pursues his other passion – creating affordable leather goods at a workshop on Ngong Road.
Wallace launched Eden Leatherwear in September 2014 offering a range of leather bags. One year in, having realised that the cost of producing bags entirely of leather made the retail price too expensive for his desired customer base, Wallace started to mix leather with canvas.
This, he tells me, has the added benefit of making his bags “more vibrant”. He has made duffle bags in different shades of blue canvas, a tote bag out of a maroon canvas, and this travel bag—which belongs to his friend the photographer Brian Siambi—out of a vibrant orange canvas.
