If there is a man who knows how to rock a pocket square it is fashion blogger Franklin Saiyalel. Last week he started to share photos, taken at the Shifteye Gallery, in which he had paired his gorgeous bespoke suits with arresting pocket squares. “Got this lovely pocket square from @ocell.luxury …” the caption read. My immediate thought was: Ocell Luxury? Aren’t they a handbag brand?
Last year, when I started following the brand on Instagram they were sharing #sneakpeeks of bag sketches, buckles and tassels. I just assumed they were developing a line of bags and so it was a lovely surprise to see that their first collection, released in July this year, included the most beautiful range of pocket squares in ornate fabric.
Ocell Luxury founders Pooja Joshi and Sara JamaI explained that the pocket squares came about somewhat unexpectedly. With their bag designs they were aiming for “elegant simplicity on the outside [and] exceptional and striking on the inside” and had searched for material with the “brightest colours and boldest patterns” for the lining. Then, given the stunning fabric they found, they decided to make the most of it by creating a line of pocket squares.
Ocell Luxury plans to only produce a limited number of each of their designs. With this collection, there are only six pocket squares available in each print. So, if you need a simple and elegant way to brighten up your suit, you better hurry up and get yours. You can order directly from the brand, which can arrange delivery in Nairobi (for a small fee) and you won’t be disappointed. Your purchase will arrive carefully packaged in a beautiful box made from recycled material with the Ocell Luxury logo hand-painted on the lid.
